The Gala Water ancient tartan features purple, light green, muted red, black, yellow and white. Winding its way through Midlothian, Peeblesshire, and Selkirkshire, the Gala Water serves as a tributary to the River Tweed. This river lends its name to the town of Galashiels, which sits at the meeting point of Peeblesshire and Selkirkshire.

The tartan is only available in a heavyweight cloth which is used for making kilts, fly plaids, interior furnishings, and upholstering furniture.
