Aberdeen Tartan

The Aberdeen (Aiberdeen) district tartan, for Aberdeen and its rural hinterland, is one of oldest district setts, dating back to the 18th century. The design is mainly red, with pink, black and white also featuring in the sett. The tartan is ideal for Aberdonians and teuchters fae 'roon aboot.

Aberdeen was first granted a royal charter by William the Lion in 1179 and has one of the oldest universities in Scotland which was founded in 1496. The granite city is Scotland's third largest and the energy capital of Europe.
