This computer wallpaper highlights the sun setting behind the world renowned Callanish standing stones on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides.

The Callanish stones are made from locally quarried Lewisian gneiss and comprise of a central monolith surrounded by a ring of thirteen stones. An avenue of stones runs to the north of the circle with single rows of stones extending to the south, east, and to the west.

The main circle of Calanais was constructed in the late Neolithic period, circa 3000 BC. Callanish sits within a rich prehistoric landscape which contains numerous stone circles and archaeological remains.
