St. Andrew's Cross Suncatcher

St. Andrew's Cross Suncatcher
This Suncatcher features Scotland's national flag, the St Andrew's Cross or Saltire which is the oldest national flag in Europe.

It is said that the saltire flag has its origins in a battle near Athelstaneford in East Lothian, circa 832 AD when Angus mac Fergus, King of the Picts, and Eochaidh of Dalriada defeated the army of Athelstane, King of Northumbria comprising Angles and Saxons. Encouraged by the appearance of a white cross of St Andrew in the blue sky. the Picts and Scots won the battle. Thereafter St Andrew became the patron of Scotland, and his cross, or saltire, the emblem of the Scottish people.

Our unique stained glass suncatchers make great gifts, look outstanding on any window in the home and will not fade. The suncatcher is hand made in the North West Highlands using traditional methods and comes complete with a window sucker.

Size 13 cm x 8 cm (5 inches x 3 inches).
