Kilt - Traditional Hand Stitched Medium Weight

Free Worldwide Delivery on all Kilts! Kilt - Traditional Hand Stitched Medium Weight

This high quality traditional medium weight kilt is available in a wide range of over 600 tartans, including many of the less common ancient, weathered, and muted designs.

At Scots Connection we have our own highly trained kilt makers with over fifty years experience between them. Our kilt makers spent five years learning their craft at traditional family kilt makers in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, and over the years they have become renowned for producing perfectly fitting kilts of exceptional quality.

Great value for money, pricing starts at £345.99 for the most popular tartans.

Our medium weight luxury kilt is handmade in time honoured fashion, without compromise, using a minimum of 8 yards medium weight 100% pure new worsted wool, which is woven in Scotland.

Your kilt will be hand stitched throughout, with a minimum of twenty nine, and up to thirty five, hand lifted deep pleats. Pleating will normally be to the sett, but can be to the line in the regimental manner, if specially requested.

We use superior heavy duty bridle leather kilt straps which are exclusively made for us at a saddlery here in Aberdeenshire. The kilt straps are made from the best quality vegetable dyed bridle butt leather. Our kilt straps cost three times the price of regular straps but the difference in quality speaks for itself, we guarantee they will last a lifetime.

We fit two of our high quality straps with hand cast buckles straps to every kilt we make. The additional seat buckle and strap found on most modern kilts is a hangover from the old military kilts with massive 4” rises. We find this additional kilt strap to be the most common cause of a kilt apron pulling tight and not sitting correctly. It is completely unnecessary on the civilian kilt with a 2” rise and is best left out.

The unseen work on a kilt is extremely important but often neglected to cut costs. Our kilt makers pad stitch heavy canvas by hand along the back of the kilt at the top of the pleats to preventing sagging. Our kilts are all ‘lifted’ by backstitching each pleat by hand along the seat line, further ensuring that the kilt holds its shape throughout its long life. This is one of the most labour intensive stages in the construction of a kilt and often missed out completely by inferior kilt makers.

A kilt of this quality, handmade in the traditional fashion, is labour intensive but the process does create the finest kilt. This durable medium weight kilt will hang well with that classic swing.

We include free tartan flashes with garters worth £24.99 with every kilt, no one gives you more value for money!

Accessories are not included.

The kilt looks great, just as I'd hoped for really. There are lots of pleats which are very precisely made. I also like the thick leather strap which is better than the ones you find on hire kilts. This kilt will serve me well at my wedding and on the numerous social events that I attend throughout the year, all in all, I'm glad I bought it.

Very many thanks for the beautiful kilts which arrived today, both are a perfect fit and will look great for the wedding. I am impressed by the efficient service. Also, lovely that the kilt fabric was made just down the road here in the Borders!

While initially dubious about ordering "unseen" over the net, the communication with the company was excellent, forms easy to understand, they double checked all sizes, nothing left to chance! Merchandise was top quality, fitted perfectly and arrived almost exactly when they said it would - no mean feat up here at the ends of the Earth! My verdict "buy with confidence, you won't be disappointed!"

I have received the two kilts (MacKinnon & Anderson tartans), plus all the other ancillary items. Myself & my colleague are both very pleased with our kilts. Excellent, quality workmanship. My wedding is now in a week's time and having only decided to get married a month and a half ago, I have been busy making arrangements, with many other suppliers for various items. Scots Connection has been far and away the best company I have dealt with. Great communication, very helpful and a pleasure to do business with. Even better, the goods arrived earlier than the stated delivery date. I shall have no hesitation whatsoever, in recommending Scots Connection for what can only be described as a first class service for first class goods.

The kilt is fabulous. Working with Jamie was a pleasure -- my many questions were patiently answered and my son looks terrific in his kilt. The workmanship is exquisite and I am confident that the kilt will be around to be worn by my grandchildren.
