This quaich features an extract from "A Man's a Man for A' That". This renowned Burns song, a proclamation of equality, liberty and brotherhood, was sung at the historic reopening of the Scottish Parliament in 1999, having been in abeyance since 1707.
The bowl of the quaich is inscribed with the words, "For a' that, an' a' that, It's comin' yet for a' that, That Man to Man, the world o'er Shall brothers be for a' that."
