Your kilt will be hand made by our own kilt maker who spent five years learning her craft at one of Aberdeen's premier kilt makers and is renowned for producing kilts of exceptional quality. Our kiltmaker has made many a kilt for the famous men of Lonach. We find the stitching and pleating to be of a far higher standard than many of the factory made kilts offered online.

The kilt is made using a minimum of 8 yards of the finest premier heavy weight 100% pure new wool kilting material. The premier weight material is available in a wide range of over 600 tartans including many of the rarer variations. Any tartan not listed can be especially woven for you - please contact us for pricing and lead times.

Hand stitched throughout, the kilt is expertly pleated in the traditional manner with a minimum of thirty hand lifted deep pleats.

We don't like the cheap mass- produced kilt straps used on the vast majority of kilts. Our kilt straps with hand cast buckles are exclusively made for us by a skilled saddler in Speyside. The difference in quality speaks for itself. We fit three of our expensive, high quality, heavy duty saddler made leather straps to all of our traditional kilts.

Beware of companies offering cheap kilts, these can look acceptable initially, but before long they begin to sag and lose their shape. Our kilt maker regularly carries out alteration work on poorly stitched and pleated kilts. Some online retailers offer cheaper packages, cutting corners, either in the making of the kilt, or by using shoddy accessories which are often made by the exploitation of child labour in Pakistan and India.

The Prince Charlie jacket is worn on formal occasions such as weddings and comes complete with a matching waistcoat (vest). The jacket is short and shaped high at the sides with three silver coloured buttons on both sides of the front panels. The back of the Jacket has short tails each having four silver coloured buttons aligned in a horse shoe shape. The jacket is normally left open in order to display the silver buttons on the waistcoat.

Sporrans in the highlands were traditionally made from leather or doeskin alone but since the 18th century sporrans made from sealskin and all manner of furs have become increasingly popular. We prefer to use bovine leather dress sporrans for our highland dress.

Sgian Dubh is the Gaelic for black dagger. This was a concealed weapon of last resort and was only exhibited out of courtesy to a host, when it was placed on full view in the hose (sock).
