Scottish Beret Tam - Diced

Scottish Beret Tam - Diced

The woollen bonnet is thought to have arrived in Scotland through scholars returning home from the centres of learning on the continent during the 16th century. In a country where the weather could change at the drop of a hat, the bonnet was quickly adopted and became an essential item of everyday wear.

The traditional Scots blue bonnet was made famous by the Scottish Covenanters and later by the Jacobite army of John Graham of Claverhouse ('Bonnie Dundee').

Our high quality diced Tam O’ Shanter/Beret cap makes a great alternative to the Glengarry or Balmoral. The cap comes from an Ayrshire family firm who have making authentic Scottish bonnets for over 160 years. The bonnet is knitted in wool and then milled to give a high quality soft felted effect. The tam has a matching diced headband with classic toorie on the top, without stiffeners, this bonnet is not suitable for wearing with a Clan cap badge. One size fits all

Available in black, navy, bottle green, lovat blue, lovat green, maroon, red, royal blue, saxe blue and fawn.
