MacKenzie of Kintail Clan Antique Silver Badge

A fine antique silver plaid brooch for the Clan MacKenzie c1860. The engraved outer design is of a foliate scroll fastened belt, with the central crest for the Clan Mackenzie, composed of a stag's head shot through with an arrow with red enamelled tip, an armoured dexter arm holding a basket hilted sword.

This magnificent badge is inscribed in both Scots Gaelic and Latin with the mottos Dia's Mo Dhutaich-Fide-Parta-Fide. The Gaelic inscription translates as Gods Own Country, the Latin as By Faith Obtained.
